The actor was most famous for playing the role of Days of our Lives villain Alex Marshall in the soap opera from 1979 to 1987. Redeker passed away on December 20, 2022, in Los Angeles while surrounded by family, but news of his death was announced weeks later by his family on January 9, 2023.

Redeker was a highly awarded actor. He was the two-time winner of the Soap Opera Digest Awards. He also took home the Soapy Award for Best Villian in 1983 for his role on Days of our Lives. His time on the show came to an end after Marshall was sent to prison for committing an insurance scam of burning down his own property, The Salem Inn.

In addition to his time on Days of our Lives, Redeker also portrayed Rex Sterling on The Young and the Restless. He was featured in more than two hundred episodes of that soap opera, making him an extremely prolific soap opera actor.

For his role as Sterling, Redeker was twice nominated for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series during the 1989 and 1990 seasons of The Young and the Restless. In addition, Redeker also won the 1989 Soapy Award for Outstanding Actor in a Supporting Role for his time on The Young and the Restless, in which he portrayed Rex Sterling.

Redeker wasn’t just a talented soap opera. He also worked as a screenwriter and was nominated for an Academy Award for best original screenplay for the 1978 hit film The Deer Hunter, which starred Meryl Streep and Robert De Niro.
